European NVC-Summerfestival 2019

Newcomer? How does the festival work?

The Festival centers around the practice of the communication process “Nonviolent Communication” (NVC). At the festival people with similar interest meet and learn from each other. They can give and participate in a wide variety of activities and workshops and for one week live in a community based on the principles of care and respect. The Festival is structured with the Open Space technology, meaning there are no official trainers. Everyone is welcome to offer trainings in whatever subject, not only in NVC.

The venue

We are at a beautiful venue, surrounded by nature in the hills just 40km away from Frankfurt in the middle of Germany.

The full venue covers an area of 30.000 square meters and offers a range of options for games and sports:

– Beach volleyball
– football field
– A ship in the sand for children
– A cable slide for children
– Site for barbecues and campfires
– a low-rope course
– archery (by request)
– a mini-golf course

All of the 8 workshop rooms at the venue are available for us.

An indoor pool (and sauna) is also available for us at the venue.

A beautiful public pool in the forest is only 3km away.

In the near vicinity of the venue you will also find many interesting places to visit, such as the Hessenpark, the amusement park Lochmühle, in Wehrheim, the Roman fortress Saalburg, the OPEL Zoo in Kronberg, the wildlife nature park in Weilburg.

How to register?


Register with your name and address. If you are coming as a family, please register one adult there and your family members in the box at the bottom of the form. The complete invoice will be sent to the person in the main form on top.

Once registration is done, you will get an invoice and payment details. This is done manually by the 2 of us (Jürgen and Iris), thus can take a few days.


The prices include an open space festival, accommodation, 3 meals a day, free use of the indoor pool and great company! Prices are per person for the full week.
There are double rooms and apartments of various sizes available. We will do our best to allocate people in a way, which serves us all best. We are prioritizing families for the apartments, it will be 1 or 2 families per apartment.
Since we are expecting to be fully booked, we will only give out a very limited number of single rooms (since there  are always 2 beds in each room and we want a maximum of beds available for you).  The additional charge for a single room is € 220,-. Please let us know with your booking, if you’d like a single room, and we will let you know if there is availability.

11-16 years: 368€
6-10 years: 298€
3-5 years: 248€
0-2 years : free€

You can bring your own bed linen and towels OR rent them for 8,50€ per person.

Camper-Van, Tent & Dormitory: Sold out!

We have reached (and already exceeded a bit) the limit  of what the venue can accommodate for Camper-Van, Tent and Dormitory guests. Only regular rooms are available from now on.


After you receive the invoice, we ask you to transfer the whole amount to us within 7 days. The exact date will be indicated on the invoice. If we have not received the payment by this date, your registration will be cancelled. We will not send “payment reminders” in order to keep our administration time at a manageable level.

The first 100€ are a non-refundable contribution to the festival. If you cancel your attendance at least 6 weeks prior to the start of the festival, we will refund your fees, minus the 100€.

We do not offer the option of a deposit and full payment later, because it creates more administrative work than we are willing to handle. Again, if you need support on this, please send a request for support to the community. THIS is the Festival Facbook Group.

Can I reserve a spot?

If you want to be sure to have place, you register and pay. If you are not sure if you will be able to come, please wait until you have clarity and register after that. We will not be holding places if you are not sure if you want to / will be able to come, since this might prevent others from the opportunity to come and it is also very time consuming for us.

Cancellation policy

For an event with the size of up to 200 people there are large numbers of registrations and usually also a significant number of cancellations coming in. For us to keep the hours of handling this at a manageable level and in order to have financial clarity and sustainability, we need a clear cancellation policy:

If you have booked and payed for your place(s) and you change your mind or life turns out to be different than anticipated,

a) buy a seminar insurance that will reimburse your for the participation fee (carefully check the insurance policy, to be clear which life events are covered and which are not)

b) if you cancel at least 6 weeks before the event, we will reimburse your fees, minus a  contribution  of 100,-€.  If you decide to make use of this option, please sent us your IBAN together with your cancelation note.

c) If you cancel less than 6 weeks prior to the event, your fees will not be reimbursed. If you find a replacement, you can of course give your space(s) to this other person(s). The management of the payment will be done between you and the new person.


The participation fee is calculated in a way that it covers the actual costs of room & board at the venue plus all additional costs involved in organizing and providing the event.

Therefore no reduction of the fee is possible, unless you take responsibility as a kids Ninja.

No other jobs are available. The venue has their own kitchen and cleaning staff at the venue, so helping there for a reduced price is no option.

Kids Ninja (4-6 people at 50% of participation fee): participate in the festival as a kids Ninja working with the kids aged 5-16 in either a morning slot or an afternoon slot every day + expect a bit of coordination online, upon arrival, and during the festival. We need these languages covered: German, English, Polish, maybe Dutch and French. Apply to Iris and describe your languages and possible offers for the kids and whether you will still join by paying if we cannot give you a Kids Ninja space (so that we keep your place at the festival reserved). We want this festival to be accessible and attractive for kids and youth. There will be a kids and youth program, a play room for kids with toys and materials, table football, table tennis, and more. There are several other hangout areas indoors and outdoors including a football field, volleyball field, Mini Golf, fireplace and more.

The venue also offers a shuttle service, please ask them directly and some time ahead of your trip.

At a later time we will also offer a Google Doc for all participants where you can offer and/or request options for ride sharing.

Check-in and times

The festival will start with dinner at the first day around 06:00 p.m.

You can check into your rooms starting from 04:00 p.m. 

The festival will end with lunch at around 01:00 p.m. on the last day.

What to bring

– be prepared for all kinds of weather, maybe check the weather forecast before coming.
– swimming clothes
– sunscreen, sunglasses, hat
– water bottle
– your materials if you like to offer workshops of your own
– whatever will make your stay comfortable and enjoyable… 😉

Bedlinen and towels

You can borrow bedlinen and towels at the venue at an additional cost of 8,50€ per person which you pay upon arrival. You can also bring your own.

Visitors day

There will be a visitors day for people who want to get a first “taste” of the festival atmosphere or can not attend the whole time. The visitors day is Sunday, July 21st. If you like to visit, please let us know before and with how many people you will come. The fee for the visitors day is 50,-€ per person, lunch is included. (small children are free) Please bring the 50,- € in cash on Sunday.


– Can I come for a shorter period of time:

There are 2 options:

a) You register for the full festival

b) You come for the visitors day on Sunday July 21st.

– Can I bring my dog or other pet?

There is a small number of rooms at the venue where guests are allowed to bring their dog. So there might be an option for you to bring your dog including very clear agreements and boundaries and ONLY after a phone conversation with the organization team beforehand.

– Do I need NVC experience in order to attend the festival

No, there are no requirements at all. Just come as you are, there are always many people completely new to NVC
